This design is a love letter to Chinese porcelain, inspired by a watercolor series I first created in 2019. The Inspiration:
In 2019, newly married and fresh into my full-time painting career, my husband and I decided on a whim to go backpacking throughout Southeast Asia. The company he worked for had been acquired, so we seized the opportunity to travel, setting off with a one-way ticket with no return date (the good ole carefree days!). The vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and rich cultural influences that we were surrounded by in Thailand, Lao, Vietnam, & Cambodia left a lasting impression on me, sparking a deep appreciation for the beauty of this region.
Once home, I translated that inspiration into a watercolor series featuring porcelain vases in a variety of styles. Now, I’m bringing it to life once more—with a fresh, modern twist. Introducing the Canton Charm Scarf, a dreamy silk design infused with my love for all things chinoiserie.
