7 Unique Items To Hang On Your Wall [that's not art or photography]
Unique Ways to Decorate Your Walls
That Isn’t Just Artwork!
There are seemingly countless opportunities when it comes to accessorizing your blank walls. Obviously, I love artwork, but it isn’t the only option for adding a little character to your home. Have a family heirloom you just can’t part with but don’t know where to put it? Leftover fabric from a renovation? Frame it and hang it!
Below are a few of my favorite ways to add a little charisma without breaking the bank!
1.) Plates –
Rather than letting your plates collect dust, hang them on your wall! They not only add texture and dimension, but they are a great way to amplify your aesthetic with different patterns and colors. I’ve collected an assortment of plates from Estate Sales and my grandparents’ attic over the years, and especially love the look of Oyster plates.
You can find inexpensive plate hangers at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
2.) Rugs or Quilts –
Have a rug that is just too pretty to get worn down on the ground? Hang it at eye-level to give it the attention it deserves. It can be a substitute for a headboard, or a great backdrop to your couch to add a little texture to your living room.
3.) Hats –
If you are a hat person, why not hang them on your wall? It’s practical, protective, and pretty! Changing them out from season-to-season will keep you from feeling bored with your space as well!
4.) Framed Menus –
This idea is probably my favorite. For me, certain restaurants and meals bring back such fond memories, that I’ve begun to frame my favorite menus over the years. These also make for great stories to tell!
5.) Purses –
I have my go-to Sunday Farmer’s Market bag hanging on my wall, which not only is a great way to accessorize any room, but frees up storage space!
6.) Fans –
Whether you frame them or not, fans add dimension and color to a room. I bought a beautiful fan when visiting my best friend in China, and I get nostalgic every time I see it in our guest room. I’ve now got an entire wall of just fans.
7.) Framed Plants -
If you are wanting to add some greenery to your room without the responsibility of tending to your plants, framing dried flowers, plants, or leaves add a light and airy feeling to any room. My mom had a gallery wall of assorted framed botanicals growing up, & I’m still searching for a spot in my house to follow her footsteps.
I hope that this list helps you to get creative and to break the barrier of feeling like you only need artwork or photography on your walls! Want to know what I’m up to on the every day?
