Interiors Inspiring the Dutch Floral Series

Interiors That Inspired my Most Recent Collection

It's no secret that I love collecting interior design books and magazines (see this post for all of my prized coffee table picks). Studying current trends and how designers create timeless, elegant spaces that people can enjoy for years to come has always been pertinent in my artistic process. Understanding certain color and pattern combinations play a role not only in how we look at our homes but also in how I look at my art.

When creating The Dutch Flower Series, I not only studied the Dutch Masters but also current interiors and palettes in order to modernize this historical subject matter. Below is a conglomeration of interiors by well-known designers, like Mark D. Sikes and Paloma Contreras, that helped influence the compositions and colors of this body of work.

Our Fall Favorites:

What We Are Reading:

  • If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love to discuss my favorite audiobooks & current reads. This book was by far one of the most moving books I’ve come across in 2020. I cried, I laughed, and I even dreamt about it. If you end up reading it, I’d love to know your thoughts!

What We Are Watching:

  • Thank goodness football is back and gracing our televisions or else I’d have a very unhappy husband! Other than NFL being a constant in our household, I recently had ACL surgery and am coping by finally watching Game of Thrones! I know, I’m behind the times, but wow, was I missing out!
