Fall is finally here, & with the crisp air, all I want to do is host cozy dinner parties followed by a glass of red wine around the fire. I’m not sure if this seasonal change is a favorite of mine due to the drastic heat we’ve faced here in Austin, or if it’s because we can finally strut the oversized sweaters & indulge in large crockpot meals.

How to Create a Beautiful Autumn Table & Floral Arrangement this Holiday Season

For the first time, I’m hosting Thanksgiving, and truth be told, I’m a bit terrified for the undertaking. For starters, our house is on the smaller side, and I’ll be a whopping 8.5 months pregnant. I’m not so worried about the cooking part of things, my mom and I both love spending time baking & prepping. What I’m more concerned about, however, is ensuring that the table is well-adorned and the conversations are enjoyable and memorable.

So, you best believe that I’m going to be a girl scout and have everything prepared well in advance for this festive feast so I can prop up my feet and enjoy a mocktail!

Color Palette:

First and foremost, it’s crucial to pick out your color palette. The flowers, placemats, and decor will revolve around this. Ask yourself, do you resonate better with the standard oranges and dark umbers that are associated to fall, or do you prefer pale pinks and yellows?

Once you make that decision, everything else is a walk in the park!

Choosing Decor:

Once you have your color scheme nailed down, time to pick out a tablecloth and/or decor that corresponds to your selected color scheme. I tend to lean on a tablecloth that has one or two of the dominant colors so that way there is still versatility, & I can bring in other colorways.

Floral Arrangement:

Lastly, you’ll want to create a floral arrangement that ties everything together. Pro-tip: don’t make it too tall so that your guests can see one another across the table. I love creating arrangements utilizing cream pumpkins. To use a lasting centerpiece year after year, you can get affordable faux pumpkins like this, cut out the stem, and insert a vase in the center to be able to use in the future.

If you are refraining from alcohol this holiday season or cutting back, I’ve been LOVING a brand called Ritual. They create zero-proof alcohol that tastes just like the real deal, just minus the liquor & calories. Whether you’re training for a marathon or growing a baby, this beverage has been a game-changer for me. Use code COCOZENTNER_ART to receive 10% off your purchase.
