Interior Trends to Watch this Fall

2019 Fall Interior Trends

Because fall is now kicking into gear, we’ve collected all of the autumn trends that we are beginning to see within interiors. Just because the seasons are changing, doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to be ‘trendy,’ but understanding how styles are influenced along with updating your home time-to-time can help create an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming.

1.) Dark Furniture:

  • Dark cabinets, especially in the kitchen, became a trend over the past few years, and now we are beginning to see it transfer to furniture, especially in dining room chairs.

  • This dresser is sleek, on sale, and intertwines both a modern yet traditional look.

2.) Bouclé Fabric:

  • I honestly wasn’t very familiar with this great fabric until my sister-in-law recently reupholstered her living room couch. I became obsessed with how cozy it was, and its dramatic texture also made her couch so much more exciting. Now that bouclé has been introduced to me, I am seeing it everywhere.

  • I am loving this cozy chair that seems so inviting and high-end.

3.) Leaves + Palm Imagery:

  • Pretty leaves will help with the winter gloom that is approaching. Rayman Boozer of Apartment48 further elaborates by stating that palm imagery, "Whether embroidered on a pillow, perched askew in a vase, or replicated on wallpaper, palm imagery is a major trend right now. The look is lush, natural, warm, and most importantly, versatile. With palms, your surrounding design can be opulent and raised to the heavens or more down to earth, an organic oasis."

  • This tropical wallpaper is a stunning design that is very Beverly Hills, and because it is adhesive, it isn’t permanent and great for renters.

4.) Meaningful Design:

  • Being someone that loves to collect artwork and memorabilia when traveling, I was elated when I read that Becky Shea of Becky Shea Designs explains that"not all clients know exactly what they want until they experience it. Elevating the experience of design for our clients where we invite them to explore all senses is definitely IN this year, and will be here to stay. We want our clients to truly 'feel' the design they love and yearn for when they come home after a long day’s work, which ultimately helps them decompress and truly enjoy being home that much more quickly. Hitting all the senses is the way to do this, and augmenting the design process to be experiential is how you get there."

5.) Feminine Hues:

  • I am a big color girl, and seeing the same pastel tones appear over and over again makes me so excited. "Colors I see in for 2019 are blush, dusty pink, and bronze. Warm colors and feminine tones for on the walls and dashes of soft pinks to break up expanses of taupe or neutrals will instantly update a tired room."—Katharine Pooley of Katharine Pooley London.

6.) Floral Pattern:

  • And last but not least, I’m a floral painter. So when I read that Erin Gates of Erin Gates Design stated that "the traditional beauty of floral patterns, either abstracted or straight up chintz, will be the pattern to use" of 2019 made me elated.

Ultimately, it is essential to not purchase or transform a space unless you feel absolutely comfortable and happy with your decision. Being somewhere in which excused joy is vital, so do not conform to these fall trends unless they truly make you at peace!
